Because it is the second tallest building in the world and also many people knows about it but always my aim is to explore civil engineering and civil works. So today i am going to discuss about shanghai tower, which ranks second tallest building in the world, structural details and some features of Shanghai Tower.
Firstly, Shanghai Tower is situated in Lujiazui, Pundong, Shanghai. It is the super mega tallest skyscraper.This building is under construction and it is the tallest building in China.

Shanghai Tower is approximately 632 metres in height which make it second tallest building in the world after the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa in Dubai.Its top floor is at the height of 556.7 m.It is 121 stories building and two floors below the ground level.Shanghai Tower has total floor area about 380,000 sq metre. Its construction was started in November 2008 and expected to completed in 2015 to become the second tallest building in the world.

The second tallest building in the world is architect and designed by the Gensler.
Interesting thing is that the engineer of this second tallest building in the world is Thornton Tomasetti. Thornton Tomasetti is one of the evergreen engineer in the field of civil engineering and he is contributed in many mega structures construction.
Shanghai Tower’s main contractor is Shanghai Construction Group.
The total estimated cost of the second tallest building in the world is $4.2 billion.

Features Of the second tallest building in the world

It is in the form of nine cylindrical buildings which is enclosed by inner layer of glass facade.
The layers of facade are transparent and it has also a features that it has double layer of glass with higher reflective glass to lower heat absorption.
The second tallest building in the world can accommodate 16000 people on daily basis.
